Robert Scott Brittingham, known to many as “Jigger,” died Nov. 6, 2021 in Albany, Texas.

He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on Oct. 28, 1932 to Lucile Matthews Brittingham and Harold Hixon Brittingham.

After graduating from Yale University, he worked for Doubleday Bookshops, wrote copy for Bantam Books, sold some short stories, and held executive positions at Lambshead Ranch and Lumber Industries.

He always said the two things in life he was good at were poker and swimming.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Brittingham and Sally Brittingham Wallace, and his brother Thomas Evans Brittingham.

He is survived by his beloved Louann George, his brother John Matthews Brittingham, many nieces and nephews along with their children and grandchildren, and many cousins and friends.

He died a happy man, grateful for a long and interesting life and for the love he received during his life.

There will be a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13 at Reynolds Bend Cemetery, Lambshead Ranch. PD
