Bill Terry, age 91, passed away peacefully, at his home, with wife Lee and family by his side, on March 30, 2022.

Bill Terry was born September 3,1930 in Groveton, TX to Ernest and Mary Terry. The third son of four boys Bill graduated from Groveton high school and later Sam Houston State University after serving in the US Air Force. He married Alberta (Lee) Ruhlman of Laredo Texas on June 6, 1952 while stationed in Laredo. Bill and Lee had four children, two sons and two daughters, who survive him.

Bill went to work for Sinclair Oil Company in Houston before moving to Freeport right after Hurricane Carla in the early 60’s to partner with Quentin Hanson in B & H Oil Co., an oil distributorship in Freeport, TX. Bill later founded VIT Offshore Oil Services and VIT Ranch in the early 1970’s.

Bill was actively involved in his community. He served on many Brazoria County organizations and boards. Bill was past president of Brazoria County Fair Association and a lifetime member. He was past president of Brazoria County Cattleman’s Association. Bill was a US Air Force veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a past member of the Brazosport Rotary Club. He served 12 years on the Port Freeport Board as Commissioner and Officer. Bill served as a director and execu­tive board member of the American Brahman Breeders Association. He was an active member of St. Joseph on the Brazos Catholic Church.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary Terry, of Groveton, TX and brothers Douglas Terry of Groveton, TX, Clayton Terry of Lake Jackson, TX and Gerald Terry of West Columbia. Bill is survived by his loving wife Lee Terry, his four children William (Billy) Terry (wife, Lenette Terry) of Lake Jackson, Tx, Pamela Tidwell (husband, Bob Tidwell) of Albany, TX, Peggy Kresta (husband, Paul Kresta) of Brazoria, TX and David Terry (wife, Amy Terry) of Lake Jackson, TX. His grandchildren are BJ Terry, Lincoln LeCompte, Jeff Terry, Lee White, Lindsey Gore, Ted Tidwell, Cortney Buckmaster, Kimberly Kresta, Kasey Rhoden, Chad Kresta, Amy Romberg, Marcus Terry and Erin Furgason. There are also 21 great grandchildren.
