BEVERLY McDONALD

Beverly Ann McDonald, 67, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on June 27, 2023, surrounded by her family. Born with a heart defect on Dec. 30, 1955, to Elva and Bud Dillingham, she was only given two weeks to live.

Specialists in Dallas said she would never live a normal life. In 1962, at the age of seven, surgery was performed to correct a hole in Beverly’s heart. Given only a 20 percent chance to live through the procedure, she was one of hundreds that survived.

Beverly was well known in Houston as she worked for almost 40 years in several Houston banks including First City, Wells Fargo, WaMu and Comerica. While working at First City Almeda Genoa in 1982, Beverly met the man God intended her to marry when a customer walked up to her teller window. W.D. (Pete) McDonald and Beverly were married Jan. 23, 1982.

God continued to do the impossible when he blessed Beverly with two healthy sons: Lawrence Mason and Nicholas Everett. God’s unexpected blessings kept coming and in 2015, Beverly, Pete, Mason and Nick were able to meet with one of the doctors that had performed Beverly’s surgery. It had been over 50 years since Beverly and the doctor had seen each other.

The specialists in Dallas were correct. Beverly did not live a normal life. Against all odds, God gave her life, she created life and became a grandma in 2021. And with all of God’s unexpected blessings, nothing was normal about it.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Pete; son, Mason and wife Jaymie; son, Nick; and grandson Lincoln. She is also survived by niece, Janette Kraatz and husband Jason; niece, Michelle Pharris and husband Dennis; nephew, Michael Carr and wife Trina. Beverly is survived by several great nieces and nephews, including Andrea, Lexi, Noah, Zach, Jacob and Brayden and great-great niece and nephew, Judah & Selah. Beverly was preceded in death by parents, Bud and Elva Dillingham; and sister, Janice Carr.

Beverly was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and her favorite title as Mimi. Beverly will forever be remembered for her strength, kindness and unshakeable faith. To know her was to love her and she will forever be loved. Her family and friends will miss her deeply but will carry her memory in their hearts forever.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 3 at First Baptist Church of Albany with Pastor Stan Allcorn officiating. Interment followed in the Albany Cemetery under the direction of Morehart Mortuary.

Memorials in her name may be made to Texas Children’s Hospital and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net. PD
