Bette Lu Linahan, 65, passed away on Friday, Aug. 20, 2021 with her family by her side in Abilene, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Round Mound Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Howard Funeral Home of Clyde. 

Bette was born Aug. 24, 1955 in Albany, Texas to Ann and Ben Carlile. Bette grew up in Albany, Texas and graduated from Albany High School in 1973. She attended Western Texas College and Angelo State University. 

After a long friendship, she married Bobby Joe Linahan, July 2, 1977 in Albany, Texas. She and her family lived in Hamby, Albany, Abilene, and Whitehouse, Texas with a brief stint in West Virginia. 

She is survived by her son Ben Linahan and wife Jess, along with their children, Jaycee, Taylor, Kenley, Jaxson, Blaine, Abby, and great grandson Elijah. She is also survived by her son John Linahan and his wife Kellie, along with their children Carli Mae and Stella Grace, Walker, Easton, and Kyle. Also surviving is her brother Jack Carlile and his wife Julie and their two daughters Christin and Catherine. Bette was also an aunt to Brad and Corey Awalt. 

She was a member of the Hamby Methodist Church. She was a woman of irreverent wit and a friend to all who knew her. She overcame many obstacles with an amazing resilience. She was married to the late Bob Linahan until his death in 2010. Bette was preceded in death by her parents Ann and Ben Carlile and sister Sandy Awalt. 

The family wishes to thank Visiting Angels and specifically Ami Israel for all her love and support during Bette’s illness. The family is also thankful for Hendrick Hospice and Silver Springs along with all their compassionate staff for their care and oversight. 

In lieu of flowers, any remembrances in Bette’s honor can be made in care of the Hamby Methodist Church, 480 Mesquite Lane, Abilene TX 79601.
