CareFest hits the stage Saturday

The 7th annual CareFest is set for Saturday, August 16, at the Happy Wife Happy Life Weddings and Events Venue. The festival will be run for the first time this year by Big Country C.A.R.E.S., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, with all proceeds continuing to benefit ResourceCare.

Gates open at 2:00 p.m., with Lowland Revelry, winner of the Battle of the Bands, starting the music at 3:00 p.m. Yesterdaze Wine will take the stage at 4:00 p.m., followed by Carter Peaslee at 5:00 p.m. Cooder Graw performs at 6:00 p.m., Jason Boland and The Stragglers at 7:30 p.m., Stoney LaRue at 9:00 p.m., and Kevin Fowler will close out the night at 10:30 p.m.

CareFest co-coordinator Ragan Riley said ticket sales are up from last year, a sign of strong community support. “It’s exciting to see more people getting their tickets early,” Riley said. “We’re looking forward to a great crowd and a great atmosphere all day long.”

Discounted tickets remain available until the day of the event, and organizers encourage attendees to purchase early. “It’s cheaper to buy ahead of time, and it also makes entry faster for everyone,” Riley said. Tickets are available at outhousetickets.com. Day-of prices are $75 for general admission, $150 for preferred, and $500 for VIP. Parking and cooler tickets are $25.

Several food trucks will be on site, including Melissa’s Cooking for a Cause, Ken’s Chicken and Fish, and the Texas Fry Guy. The Green Gypsy trailer will be set up in the VIP area.

With high temperatures expected, organizers will provide free water and plenty of shaded areas. All canopies have sold out. “It’s going to be warm, but we’ve got water, shade, and a breeze out there,” Riley said. “We want everyone to stay cool and comfortable so they can enjoy the music.”

At the gate, cash and Venmo will be accepted. Credit card payments will not be available at the gate but can be used to purchase tickets in advance online.

Riley also expressed appreciation for the businesses helping make the event possible. She thanked this year’s top sponsors — Happy Wife Happy Life Weddings and Events Venue, Ron Hoover RV and Marine Center in Breckenridge, GCA340B, 95.1 The Wolf, Boyd Fence and Welding, Resist All Electric, Hauer Ranch, Oceans Behavioral Hospital, Big Country C.A.R.E.S., and Goodnight Steakhouse & Saloon — for their support.

“People should come out because you get to have a good time while raising money for a great cause,” Riley said. “Every ticket sold helps us keep supporting the people and programs that make a difference in our community.”
