Teams pack Albany Golf Club for weekend fundraiser

The Shackelford County Youth & Livestock Association’s annual 3-Person Golf Scramble brought in another $40,000 this past weekend, matching last year’s total. The tournament was held Saturday and Sunday, July 19–20, at Albany Golf Club, with proceeds supporting local youth exhibitors in the Shackelford County Stock Show.

Both the morning and afternoon flights reached full capacity, with teams competing in the scramble format across two days of tournament play. Organizers said strong participation, along with continued support from auction bidders, played a key role in reaching this year’s fundraising total.

The fundraiser is one of several events each year that help boost premium sale payouts for youth showing animals in the county stock show.

Several more tournaments are scheduled at Albany Golf Club in the coming months, including:

• Labor Day Tournament, August 30–31 – 2-person scramble

• AGC Club Championship, September 13–14 – Individual format, club members only

• Kiwanis Tournament, September 19 – 4-person scramble

• Sam Tidwell Scholarship Tournament, September 27–28 – 3-person scramble supporting Albany youth

• Xi Chi Pi Sorority Tournament, October 4 – 3-person scramble

• Mason Tournament, October 25 – 3-person scramble
