Quilts, crafts, and raffle planned for annual show during Fandangle

Entries are being sought for the annual Quilt Show hosted by the Albany Study Club and will be displayed at the Whitney Theatre on Fandangle performance days.

Quilts on loan for the show should be taken to the Shackelford County Library during business hours.

The quilt show is set for June 20-21 and June 27-28. Admission is free and open to all visitors from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day.

Those loaning quilts or other items are asked to bring them to the library in plastic bags. Information cards for each entry will be available at the library. Owners are asked to also provide whatever history is known about the quilts, including who made the quilt and who the current owner is.

Other sewing handiwork such as table runners and Christmas ornaments will also be accepted for display, according to organizers.

Anyone who might need someone to pick up entries and deliver them to the library can contact co-chairs Lori Schooler at 325-762-2488 or Shelly Bartee at 325-721-4919. Schooler asks that anyone needing help picking up items to please call soon so that displays may be set up in time for the first Fandangle performance.

Quilt Raffle

In addition to the Quilt Show, the Study Club is also selling raffle tickets for an antique quilt.

Raffle tickets may be purchased by any Study Club member or at the library. Tickets will sell for $5 each or five tickets for $20.

The quilt to be raffled is currently on display at the county library and will also be exhibited at the show. Tickets will be available there as well.

The winner’s name will be drawn prior to the final Saturday performance of the Fandangle on June 28 and announced at the show.

Copies of the club’s cookbook will be on sale at the Whitney for $13 each.

Proceeds from both projects help fund scholarships given to local seniors by the club.
