Classic car show rolls into Albany April 19

By Melinda L. Lucas

Another annual Albany Classic Car Show is gearing up for Saturday, April 19 in downtown Albany, with the public urged to come view dozens of vintage cars and trucks from around the Big Country.

Organizer and car enthusiast Robert Snyder said he is hoping for a good turnout.

“Our date has been set on the third weekend in April for about 20 years,” Snyder said. “This year, it falls on Easter weekend, but the times that has happened in the past, we still had a good turnout. We’re looking for another great show if the weather cooperates.”

Registration for exhibitors is from 8:00 until 11:00 a.m. on the day of the show. There is a $20 entry fee, with over 25 classes to enter. Specialty and individual awards will be handed out for both cars and trucks.

Entries will be lined up on South First Street between Clear Fork Bank and the Bank Park, along with an adjacent vacant lot to the west if needed.

The show is open to all classics, antiques, hot rods, customs, trucks, and more.

Car show volunteers will host a hamburger fundraiser at the Bank Park on Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in conjunction with the traditional burn-out. Cost of the burger basket is a minimum of $10, but Snyder said that donations are always welcome to help support and sustain the car show.

On Saturday during the day, several food vendors are expected to set up at the Bank Park for visitors and participants.

The rain-out date is May 17.
