MMPC serves 130 Christmas meals

By Melinda L. Lucas

Approximately 130 meals were served by volunteers from Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church and the rest of the community as part of the annual MMPC Christmas Feast.

The total was a slight increase over the 125 or so meals served the year before.

The meals were only offered on a carry-out basis with everything either delivered or picked up.

As in past years, meals were delivered to Vittles by Vehicles recipients, first responders, and others working on Christmas Day, with 100 deliveries and 30 pickups.

Mike and Pam Bean, along with boys from the Ben Richey Boys Ranch, were among the volunteers, with the Fikes and Breeden families, Tamara Trail, and several others pitching in.

“We had another good year,” organizer James Breeden said. “It went very smoothly, with a good turnout for volunteers.”

This was the 16th year for the Feast, which provides free holiday meals with all the trimmings. The Christmas Feast is a project of MMPC’s missions and evangelism team. Breeden and Trail coordinate the event.

Cody Leech and Kory Ware prepared the meat, and MMPC members brought homemade desserts.

“Hats off to everyone who showed up and volunteered,” Breeden said. “We hope to see them again next year.”
