Moran students get involved in UIL

Moran third through eighthgradestudentshave beenbusythisweektaking part in Elementary UIL Academic contests, which will continue next week.

On Tuesday, Nov. 28, students competed in Ready Writing and Chess Puzzles at Moran. On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the elementary UIL speaking events such as Story Telling and Oral Reading were held.

The rest of the elementary UIL events will be held Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Cross Plains.

“The majority of the elementary is participating, almost30kids,”Moran principal Jo Hise said. “We have one of our largest groups ever.”

Thanksgiving Meal Members of the Moran National Honor Society served a Thanksgiving mealtofellowstudentsand familymembersThursday, Nov. 16 at the Moran gym before the school district let out for a week.

“Wehadareallygoodresponse for that,” Hise said. “Itwasaverygoodturnout, very positive community effort and involvement.”

On The Road Again Students from Moran’s dual-credit advanced animal science class visited another historic Texas ranch Monday-Tuesday, Nov. 27-28, with a trip to the King Ranch.

The tour included the ranch’s cattle operation,horse operation, farming operation, feed mill, and feedlot.

In September, eight students andthreeinstructors visited the 6666 Ranch at Guthrie.
