The Albany Lady Lions basketball team suffered a 64-23 lossTuesday,Nov.21atGorman in its only outing of Thanksgiving week.

The Lady Lions (2-2) hosted Abilene Christian on Tuesday, Nov. 28, winning 50-35.

Albany will take part in the MundaytournamentThursday, Nov. 30 through Saturday, Dec. 2, taking on Eula in the first round.

At Gorman, the Lady Lions fell behind in the first quarter but played the Lady Panthers even in the second.

“Gormanisaverygoodteam, ranked in the top 10 in the state in Class 1A, and we competed withthemuntilhalftime,”Lady Lions coach Brad Stautzenberger said. “The third quarter wasn’t too bad; then we kind of fell apart in the fourth quarter.” Kiana Roberson had nine points and six rebounds for Albany, while Caroline Chapman added five points and six rebounds. Madi Parrott scored four points, and Avery Everitt had two steals.

The Albany junior varsity did not play because three players were out sick.

Following the Munday tournament, the Lady Lions will have two games – Tuesday, Dec. 5 against Throckmorton and Friday, Dec. 8 at Clyde – before opening District 10-2A play Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Cisco.

“There are a few games I think we can win and get these girls some confidence going into district,” Stautzenberger said.
