Churches set holiday dates

Localchurchesaremaking plans for Christmas services and programs as the holiday draws near.

Plans for many traditional events had not been finalized at press time but will be publicized as information is received.

First Baptist

First Baptist Church will host a family spaghetti suppergatheringintheFellowship Hall on Saturday, Dec. 9 prior to a children’s musical.

Dec. 9 will also be a Parents DayOutfrom9:30a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for children six weeks to sixth grade. Places must be reserved by calling Ginger Bumguardner at 325-660-5420.

Then on Dec. 17, there will be a family hayride. Participants should meet in the fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m. to make baskets for shut-ins and eat a light supper before leaving to carol and deliver baskets. Back at the church, they will have s’mores and hot chocolate outside, as well as hearing the Christmas story.

First Christian

FirstChristianChurch’s traditional Hanging of the Greens is planned for the morning service on Dec. 3.

Church members will deliver Christmas trees and wreaths after the services toshut-insandothers in the community.

They will go caroling on Dec. 21 at 6:00 p.m.

Dec. 17 is Game Night, open to everyone, starting at 6:00 p.m.

On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, a service entitled “A Light in the Darkness” will begin at 6:00 p.m. The public is invited.

A movie night on Dec. 30 at 7:00 p.m. will feature “The Blind.”

Friendship Baptist Friendship Baptist will host “Jingle Jam” on Sunday, Dec. 10, featuring children and junior high students, during the morning service at 11:00 a.m.

There will be a candlelight service at 10:00 a.m.

Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church MMPC youth have planned a beef tenderloin fundraiser at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 at the Feed Store.

Tickets are being presold or delivery can be arranged by contacting Becky Wills at 325-6699801 or the church office at 325-762-2038. Childcare is available for $5 during the event, with pizza provided.

MMPC will also host its traditional Christmas Day Feast, but with takeout only from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Trinity Lutheran

Trinity Lutheran will host Wednesday Advent Services on Dec. 6, Dec. 13, and Dec. 20.

A light supper will be servedat6:00p.m.withthe service to start at 7:00 p.m.

A Christmas Eve children’s program is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 24.

A Christmas Morning Divine Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 25.
