Top Horse award

Two teams withAlbany connections competed at the Working Ranch Cowboy Association Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo held Saturday, Nov. 11 at Amarillo.

Albany’s Jack Nail of Nail Ranch received the Top Horse award.

Nail Ranch and Clear Fork Ranch were among the 13-team field for the event. Both qualified by winning ranch rodeos over the past year.

The WRCA youth division is open to boys and girls age 16 and under. Teams competed in branding, sorting, doctoring, trailer loading, and wild steer racing.

Nail Ranch finished second in wild steer racing, third in doctoring.

The Clear Fork Ranch team included Gatlin Wills and Slayton Parsons of Albany. Riggyn Saunders, of Lueders was unable to compete because of injury and was replaced by Emma Armstrong of Merkel. Rounding out the team were Brandon Craig ofSantaAnnaandKayden Brian of Brock.

Nail was the only local holdover from the Nail Ranch team to compete in Amarillo. Albany’s Cort Peterson and Will LeMay were part of the original lineup that qualified for the Youth World Championship.
