Albany Lions football player Adam Hill announced over the weekend that he is committing to Texas Tech for his college career.

Hill, who plays running back and defensive end, was being recruited by the Red Raiders to play linebacker.

Hill said Tuesday that it was important for him to make his decision so the matter wouldn’t interfere with Albany’s playoff run.

“I just want to focus on one game at a time and try to get back to state,” he said.

Hill has been a mainstay for theAlbany athletic programs during his high school career. In addition to football, he is a two-time state qualifier in track, winning the Class 2A gold medal in the 300-meter hurdles last spring along with silver medals in the 110 hurdles in 2022 and 2023.

He was the leading scorer and rebounder on the basketball team as a junior as well as starting in the outfield for the baseball team.

On the football field, Hill started at tight end and defensive back as a sophomore before changing positions his junior year. This season, he has rushed for 1,789 yards and 30 touchdowns on 178 caries, averaging just over 10 yardspercarry.Hehasalso caught eight passes for 146 yards and four TDs.

On defense, he has 74 total tackles with 24 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks and 17 quarterback pressures.

Hill was also recruited byLouisianaTech,coached by former Texas Tech quarterback Sonny Cumbie, and he visited both Louisiana Tech and Texas.

“Tech is closer to home,” Hill said. “My big brother lives up there, and a lot of my classmates are going there.”
