Hill, Trail named as homecoming royalty

Albany High School seniors Adam Hill and Robyn Trail were crowned 2023 Homecoming King and Queen in front of a homecoming crowd Friday night at the halftime of the Albany vs. Roscoe game.
TheComingHomeKingand Queen representing the Class of 1973 – Randy Deal and Patti Swank – were also presented at midfield during the ceremony at the half.
ThenomineesforHomecoming King and Queen, all seniors, were escorted by parents or family members, while the prince and princess from the other three high school classes were part of the festivities as well.
The sweethearts and beaus of several student organizations were also part of the royalty on the field.
Hill and Trail were both nominated by the senior class.
The student body for grades 9-12 voted on the eight nominees to determine the winners.
Homecoming Queen
Trail, 17, is the daughter of Tamara Trail and Justin Trail, both of Albany.
She has received numerous awards and honors in high school and has been active in a numberofschoolorganizations.
Trail is currently president of the Student Council, vice president of the senior class, and is chapter president of the Albany Chapter of the FFA.
She was elected as the FFA historian her sophomore year and served as secretary her junior year. She has competed and placed as a member of the FFA Radio Broadcasting team,

She is also a member of theNationalHonorSociety and currently serves as reporter.
Trail is the captain of the cheerleading squad, having been a member of the varsity squad for three years. She was selected as an NCA All-American cheerleaderbothherjunior and senior years.
She has been active in the school’s journalism program, serving as an assistant editor of the Lion’s Roar last year and editor-in-chief her senior year. She has competed in UIL journalism events, including placing second in headline writing to advance to the regional meet her junior year.
Trail had the lead role in Albany’s One Act Play last year, which advanced as the district alternate.
She has been active as both a performer and working as a student assistant for the Fort Griffin Fandangle,alsoworkingat a local clothing boutique.
She is a member of the Feed Store Student Council and attends Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Trail has attended Albany schools since kindergarten.
She has applied and been accepted to several universities, but has not decided on a major.
Homecoming King Hill, 18, is the son of Kevin and Kimberly Hill of Albany. He has also attended Albany schools since kindergarten.
Hill currently serves as vice president of the Student Council. He has been amemberoftheFeedStore council the last two years, and serves as a Feed Store Ambassador this year.
He was a member of the Lions Roar staff his 10th and 11th grade years, receiving a Tops in Texas Award last year for a Photo Story.
He has participated in One Act Play since the seventh grade, and was selected as the Freshman Class Prince in 2020.
He has been a member of the First Baptist Church YouthGroupsinceseventh grade and serves on the group’s Youth Council.
He has been a member of the Fandangle cast and backstage crew since the seventh grade, and has been a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes during the same period.
Hill has been an athletic standout throughout high school, participating in football, basketball, track and baseball.
He won the District 6th Man award in basketball his freshman year and was an area and regional qualifier in both the 110 and 300 hurdles, and the 4 x 4 relay.
During his sophomore year, he was named as a first team all-district tight end and second team safety in football. He made the first team all-district in basketball. Hill won a silver medal at the state track meet in the 110 hurdles and was a regional qualifier in the 300 hurdles and the mile relay.
Hill was District MVP in football his junior year, also being selected to the All-Big Country Super Team and multiple All-State honors. He was a memberofthe2022Albany Lions team that won the Class 2A Div. II state football championship.
That same year, he won the District Defensive MVP Award in basketball and was named to the All-Region team.
In track, Hill was the 300 hurdles gold medalist at the state track meet, winning the silver in the 110 hurdles. He also ran at the state meet in the mile relay.
Float Winners
The four high school classescompetedwithfloat entries in the homecoming parade last Friday. The theme for the parade was holidays.
The sophomore class took first place with “4th of July.” followed by the seniors in second place with “New Year’s Eve.
The freshman class was named third with a Christmas float, while the junior class finished fourth with “Halloween.”
