Trick-or-treat event set downtown
The downtown merchants are again hosting the annual Main Street Trick or Treat on Tuesday,andthePTOhasmoved its traditional costume contest to the same day.
The events are both being held on Halloween Day, with trick-or-treating scheduled for 4:00until5:00p.m.Thecostume contest is set to start at 5:30 p.m. at the Bank Park.
Participating businesses will be set up mostly in the main block of downtown to hand out candyandtreatstolocalchildren donning their Halloween attire.
Other businesses outside the downtownarea,alongwithclubs or organizations are welcome to set up a table in the downtown block or the Bank Park to handout candy.
Costume Contest
The costume contest will feature four age groups, plus a groupcontest.Thecategoriesare newbornthroughagetwo,threeyear- oldsthroughKindergarten, first through fourth grades, and fifth grade and above. All ages are eligible to compete in the group category.
Contestants need to register for the contest starting at 5:00 p.m., immediately after the downtowntrickortreatingends, according Staci Strauss, who is heading the event.
“Anyone who has any questions can feel free to contact me,” Strauss said. “We wanted to keep the tradition of the contest alive, and we are hoping for a big crowd.”
See Downtown, pg. 8A Thecostumecontestwill not be held with the Fall Fest this year because it has been moved after Halloween to Nov. 4.
Winners in each category will receive Halloween- themed trophies or ribbons, with the overall winner being awarded a $50 Fall Fest wrist band.
In case of rain, the contst will be moved to the Feed Store.
