JV rolls to 46-0 win over Roscoe

The Albany Lions junior varsity football team scored on offense, defense, and special teams in the first quarter Thursday, Oct. 19 in rolling to a 46-0 victory at Roscoe.

The JV Lions (6-2) return to action at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26 (tonight) when they visit Hamlin.

At Roscoe, the Lions recorded theirfourthshutout of the season. Other blankings were 38-0 at Dublin on Aug. 31, 40-0 against Hawley on Sept. 14, and 48-0 at Miles on Oct. 5.

“Our offensive line had another great night, and our backs ran well,” coach David Fairchild said. “Defensively, we had a lot of people getting to the ball. Overall, it was a good win.”

Breylon Billington opened the scoring with a 20-yard run, and Aaden Mendez ran for the conversion.

Zane Green then made a nice defensive play to get a tackle in the end zone for a safety. That was followed by Shawn Keen’s 60-yard return of the free kick for a touchdown. HollisYeates ran for the conversion to give the Lions an 18-0 lead before the end of the opening period.

In the second quarter, Mason McCloy scored on a 4-yard run to make the lead 24-0, Then Mendez scoredona3-yardrunwith Jaxson Street running for the conversion.

Keen scored on a 25yard run withYeates again adding the conversion. Jack Nail capped the scoring with a 15-yard run.
