“The district is planning something right before the homecomingparade,”Lions head coach Denney Faith said. “We’ll give everybody a chance to take pictures, but the ceremony itself will be short and sweet.”

The monuments recognize the 1960 and 1961 teams as well as Faith’s 2022 team.

“Coach Faith and I will each say a few things,” Albany superintendent Jonathan Scott said.

The Albany Athletic BoosterClubraised$50,000 for the monuments, which list the names of players, coaches, and cheerleaders as well as game results for each team.

The 1960 squad finished 14-1 after dropping its season opener, and the 1961 team went 15-0. The 2022 teamfinished14-2,winning its last 11 games.

The 2023 Lions carry an 18-game winning streak into this Friday’s game.

Scott said the sign commemorating the first two title teams will eventually be repainted, raised higher, and include a name for the small park.
