Lady Cubs to finish Oct. 24

The Albany Junior High Lady Cubs volleyball teams stayed busy with home matches Thursday, Oct. 12 against Bangs and Monday, Oct. 16 against Coleman.

The Lady Cubs conclude theirseasonTuesday,Oct.24 againstRanger.Thematches will precede the varsity team’s Senior Night match.

AgainstBangs,theSilver team lost 22-25, 25-21, 6-15. The White team lost 23-25, 23-25. The Red team lost 18-25, 15-25.

“Overall there were good moments throughout the night,” coach Lauren Peacock said. “Each set we got into some serve receive trouble and weren’t able to battleback.I’mproudoftheir fight and willingness to keep learning and playing.”

Against Coleman, a combined team made up of players fromtheSilverandWhite teams lost 17-25, 22-25.

“We had to combine the White and Silver teams due to band contest and a couple of illnesses,” Peacock said. “With that being said, I’m beyondproudofhowthegirls responded to a new rotation and positions with not much notice. They worked hard anddideverythingweasked of them. “

The Red team won 25-19, 25-23.

“Every girl came to play, and they were locked in and focused,” Peacock said. “Our serving game was solid. Charli Trail led us in most serves and was consistent.”

Peacock said the Red’s teamwork was crucial to the outcome.

“They played as a team and worked well together,” she said. “We had several good combinations with rallies and they battled hard. Finlee Brown and Kenzee Roysdon had some solid hits for us.”
