Fry qualifies for national contest

Shackelford County 4-Hers Faith and Grace Fry claimed multiple awards earlier this month at the All American Quarter Horse Congress in Columbus, Ohio.

Faith Fry won with her educational presentation on soring. She qualified for the National 4-H Congress, scheduled for Nov. 25-29 in Atlanta, Georgia over the summer at the State 4-H Roundup.

The sisters were also members of a winning judging team.

“Theteamtheycompete with is a West Texas select team,”ShackelfordCounty extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “That team won the American Paint Horse Association and American Quarter HorseAssociation world contests.”

Food Show

The county food show is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at Bethel Assembly. The winners of each category in each age division will advance to district on Thursday, Nov. 16 in Abilene.

Validation

Sheep and goat validation willbeconductedMonday, Oct. 23 in Albany and Tuesday, Oct. 24 in Moran.

Meeting Set

Members involved in the commercial steer project will meet Tuesday, Oct. 24. The program will include a presentation from a veterinarian regarding cattle health.
