Shackelford County 4-H wraps up its Summer STEAM program Thursday, Aug. 10 (today), and begins preparations for the new 4-H year, which starts in September.

Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said the final STEAM session will be a pool party hosted by Tamara Trail. Starting in early June, the program offered local children education in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

On Monday, Aug. 14, incoming junior and senior officers will attend a meeting of the Shackelford County Commissioners Court.

“We will finish out the day at The Feed Store,” Bell said. “We’ll have lunch and go over things to lay out our year.”

Banquet Time

The only other item on the club’s August schedule is the banquet at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20 at the Whitney Theatre.

“The RSVP deadline for the banquet is this Sunday, Aug. 13,” Bell said.

Bell said the event will be a dessert bar with club members invited to bring items.

“If anyone would like to bring a dessert, they are welcome to,” she said. “I will have an assortment of things available. The first week of school, we don’t need to add anything to anyone’s plate.”

Bell said a brief program is scheduled.

“The officers will run the show,” she said. “The leaders will recognize their kids who participated. If they won something in a contest, they’ve already been recognized for that, but this is for commitment to a certain project area for the entire year.”
