Voter registration deadline nears

The last day to register to vote in the Nov. 8 mid-term election is next Tuesday, Oct. 11, delayed a day because of Columbus Day.

Shackelford County and District Clerk Cheri Hawkins, who is also the local elections coordinator, explained that Texas residents can register in person at the Courthouse in Albany by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Eligible residents can also register by mail by going to votetexas.gov, printing a voter registration form, filling it out, and mailing it to County Clerk, PO Box 2109, Albany TX 76430 with a postmark of Oct. 11 or before.
