The Albany cross country program produced four medalists Wednesday, Sept. 28 at the Rotan meet as preparations for district competition intensified.

The runners had their final tuneup for district on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at Anson. Results will be reported next week.

Anson will also host the District 10-2A meet on Tuesday, Oct. 12.

At Rotan, Jonathan Coody, Sidney Russell, Avery Everitt, and Myleigh Leveridge earned medals by placing in the top 10 of their respective races.

“It was a good day for the runners,” coach Ginger Norton said. “Rotan is not an easy course.”

Norton said she has cautioned her runners not to be satisfied with their performances.

“We still have two more weeks to get stronger and better for district,” she said.

Coody finished fifth out of 30 varsity boys with a time of 19:09.

Russell placed seventh in a field of 56 runners in the varsity girls race with a time of 15:19.

In the JV girls race, Avery Everitt topped the field of 23 runners, winning in 17:41. Leveridge also placed fifth in 20:02.

Other Albany finishers in the varsity boys race were Brayden Watson (15th, 22:15), Jayce Tinkle (26th, 24:53), and Landon Kreitler (29th, 25:45).

In the varsity girls race, Briley Tabor missed a medal by one spot, finishing 11th in 15:52, while Maci Hatchett was 17th in 16:45.

Jaci Chapman finished 13th in the JV girls race.
