Rehearsals get underway for one-act play

Rehearsals for Albany high’s one-act play started this week in preparation for the district contest set for March 9.
Tryouts were held last week by Chanel Hayner, who is serving as the director after transferring as a teacher at the secondary campus. She also was in charge of the high school OAP five years ago while still teaching at Nancy Smith Elementary.
Hayner selected the play “Tracks” by Peter Tarsi for this year, a drama about a group of passengers who meet on a subway ride and are given reason to review their lives.
The first rehearsal was held Monday night at the high school auditorium.
The director said that it was a “difficult decision” determining the cast from the large group that participated in tryouts.
The cast and crew will continuing working during evening rehearsal in preparation for the March 9 district contest in Haskell.
The following cast members were named for the production: Landon Balliew – high school boy, Lizzie Chavez – high school girl, Adam Hill – old man, Brooks Neece – businessman, Chey’Anne Weaver – business woman, Jaci Chapman – waitress, Melissa Olivarez – nun, Avery Everitt – homeless girl, Briley Tabor – lawyer, and Tyler Chapman – professor.
Sidney Russell was selected as an alternate.
Members of the crew will include Avery Kleiner, Jaheim Newton, Zane Waggoner, and Myleigh Leveridge. Ann Davis was picked as an alternate for the crew.
