Registration is underway for the Albany Chamber of Commerce annual garage sale, which is scheduled for Sept. 11.

“We are getting people signed up,” Chamber manager Mary Beth Jones said. “I may be out of the office some this week, but if  you see somebody there, you can run in and sign up. We’ve got plenty of time.”

Registration will continue through Sept. 3.

A registration fee of $10 covers inclusion on the map of garage sale participants and a sign. Signs will be ready for participants to pick up Sept. 7-9.

The Chamber office will be open 7:00-10:00 a.m. the day of the sale to distribute maps. After that, maps will be available outside the Chamber door.

For more information or to be part of the garage sale, call 325-762-2525.

Holiday Decorations

The Chamber is also getting started on its holiday decoration project.

“We’re making bows and getting ready,” Jones said. “All the board members are handling their different jobs.”

Chamber volunteers put up decorations throughout Albany in the fall and for Christmas. The organization is seeking to purchase more permanent and lasting decorations.

Jones said the decorations will be treated to provide protection from the weather. She added that work will be conducted on poles to make installation easier. Albany High School ag students will assist with installation.

Cookoff Plans

To help fund the decorations project, the Chamber  will hold the Home of the Hereford Cookoff and Cornhole Tournament Oct. 1-2 at Webb Park.

“We’re just mailing the letters for sponsorships,” Jones said. “The next meeting, we’ll start getting the rest of the details together. Anyone who wants a sponsorship can call the Chamber. If they didn’t get a letter, it’s been posted on Facebook.”

Sponsorships will be available at for all levels from $50 to $250. Donations will also be accepted.

The event will consist of  competition in eight cooking categories. Entrants must preregister. Entry fee is $20 per category. Payout will be based on the number of entries.

There will also be youth divisions for ages 5-9 and 10-14. Entry fee for those age groups will be $10.

Entry fee for the cornhole tournament is $25 per person with competition in singles and team divisions.

For more information, call the Chamber at 325-762-2525.
