Kindred drive collects for VFDs

Water and Gatorade are being accepted for the entire month of September at the Kindred at Home health office in Albany during the company’s national campaign drive.

Tracy Sullivan with Kindred said that this year the local office decided to focus on donations for the two volunteer fire departments – City of Albany Volunteer Fire Department and the Shackelford County Volunteer Fire Department – rather than conduct a general food drive.

“We have had a huge outbreak of fires in our area recently,” Sullivan said. “We just felt that it was a great way to help firefighters and volunteers resupply some water and Gatorade. It also allows our community to be able to give back to them along with expressing our heartfelt thanks.”

In 2019, Kindred collected school supplies for students in Albany, and in 2017 and 2018 the local Kindred Home Health office collected non-perishable food items during Kindred’s national food drive.

“Water and Gatorade donations just felt like a bigger need this year and can impact more people,” Sullivan said.

All items donated to the local Kindred office will be distributed to AVFD and SCVFD at the beginning of October.

Donations can either be dropped off at the Kindred office at 100 North Main between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, or donors can call 325-762-2854 to have the items picked up.
