ResourceCare’s summer day camp is less than  one month away, and sponsorships are still being requested to help provide a safe and fun three weeks of camp for Shackelford County youth.

ResourceCare program director Mindy Ary said the camp also will employ 45 Albany high school students and college bound kids.

The event will run weekly from July 6 to July 28, starting at 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

“We believe in this mission and all that it provides to our community,” Ary said.

Portions of summer day camp are funded by the United Way of Abilene, Albany Chest, and the Summer Food Program.

Ary explained that the remainder of the funds come from local donations and sponsorships and fundraising events.

Sponsors will need to be in no later than June 23 to be listed on the camp T-shirts.

ResourceCare program assistant Ragan Riley said there is also a list of items that are needed for donations with sunscreen, bottled water, and hand sanitizer being the most important.

Other items needed are Kool-Aid mix, pretzels, cookies, goldfish, any type of fruit, art supplies, kid movies on DVD, donated blankets and throw pillows for movie time, and plastic table cloths.

Donated items can be delivered to the Resoure Care front desk or picked up by request.

To make a donation or become a sponsor, contact Ary at 254-459-8785, mindyary@resourcecare.org or mail checks to PO Box 2435 Albany, TX 76430.
