Moran craft fair set this Saturday
By Kathy Thomson
The annual Moran holiday craft fair will take place this Saturday, giving Christmas shoppers a chance to find those special gift items without having to fight their way through busy traffic and crowded stores.
A children’s painting party is set for the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 14, and a chili fundraiser, complete with a live band, will take place that night.
Holiday Craft Fair
The public is invited to the Moran Community Center from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. this Saturday, Dec. 7, to shop at the annual Holiday Craft & Vendor Fair.
The building is located at 209 Waters Street, and organizer Michelle Taggart is expecting vendors to be selling a wide variety of arts and crafts and other homemade items.
“Come and get all of your holiday shopping done early in one spot,” said Taggart. “There should be something for everyone.”
A few vendor spots were still available as of press time.
Spots are $20 each, and until they are all claimed, they can be reserved by contacting organizer Michelle Taggart by email at mltc76@yahoo.com.
Children’s
Painting Party
The monthly kids painting party will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the Moran Community Center.
“As always, lunch will be served, and everything is free,” said organizer Tiffany Waddell. “Please let me know how many you plan to have, so I can make sure to order enough pizza. Special needs children are always welcome.”
Benefit Meal
Donnie Edgar and Allen Mosher are in the process of buying the old American Legion Hall in Moran and are already using “D.A.’s” to host community fundraisers, including the benefit planned for Saturday, Dec. 14 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m.
A meal of deer and turkey chili, fixings, drink, and dessert can be purchased for $10 a plate.
Jeff Martin will provide live music from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Smoking is allowed.
The building is BYOB, with a $5 cooler charge, and set-ups are available for $1.
The last event raised monies for gravel that they gave to the City of Moran to help fill in pot holes.
This time the benefit will be for Gabe Boyett, a 2017 graduate of Moran High School, who is battling cancer.
“He is still going back and forth to doctors, and had a tumor removed a couple of weeks ago,” said Mosher. “Insurance just won’t cover everything. They have to pay for gas for the trips and hotel rooms when they have to stay overnight.”
D.A.’s is located at 111 Ground Street.
