Bulldogs to face Strawn JV

After a 30-minute rain-delayed start, the visiting Rotan Yellowhammers flew circles around the Bulldogs, and handed them a 38-7 loss last Friday, Sept. 21.

The Moran varsity football team will face the Strawn JV this Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m. for their last home game before district. 

The ’Dogs travel to Chillicothe on Oct. 5, Three Way on Oct. 12, and Gustine on Oct. 19 for 7:30 p.m. non-district games. The Bulldogs will host Blackwell to the district opener on Oct. 26.

Moran was moved from District 11 to District 6 in the last UIL realignment, and along with Blackwell, they will compete with Loraine and Trent for district honors.

The junior high football team hosts Strawn tonight, Sept. 27 for a 6:00 match-up before the high school teams take to the field. 

Coach Matthew Hise and his players will travel to Chillicothe for a 5:00 p.m. game next Thursday, Oct. 5.

The junior high Bulldogs claimed their first victory of the year last week in Gorman against the Jonesboro Eagles, 39-24. The Moran middle school team lost its season debut in Sidney 18-51 on Sept. 13.

Volleyball

The Lady Bulldogs were up against both of the 2A schools included in the mixed 1A and 2A District 6 last week. 

Moran lost to Hawley on Sept. 18 in three sets 13-25, 12-25, 7-25, and then lost in Albany to the Lady Lions, on Saturday, 15-25, 10-25, 16-25.

The junior high lost to Hawley 19-25, 14-25, on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The varsity team was off this Tuesday, and will next hit the court in Woodson for a 10:00 a.m. game on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The junior high divided into two teams for a pair of games with Abilene Christian on Tuesday. Results were not available at press time.

Moran volleyball teams will host Ranger next Tuesday, Oct. 2. The junior high will take to the court at 5:00 p.m., followed by the varsity game.
