Moran ISD gears up for school start
The Moran Independent School District is fully staffed for the upcoming year, according to superintendent Danny Freeman.
“We just finished our hiring for this school year,” said Freeman last week. “Teacher in-service will begin Aug. 10 for all new staff, and Aug. 13 for everyone else.”
Staff Changes
at Moran ISD
Several new faces will be at Moran this year, including teachers, coaches, and members of the support staff.
Kim Davis will teach science and social studies to students in grades three through five, and will also teach writing to the fourth grade class.
Alyson Orsak has been hired to teach math to the third, fourth, and fifth grades.
First graders will have Carly Henson as their instructor.
Harley Ethridge is the new athletic director at MISD, and is also the boys head coach.
Dakota Fowler is the girls head coach at Moran.
“Sabrina Swedlund has been moved to fill our pre-K and kindergarten position,” said Freeman. “Matthew Hise has been moved to be our ag science teacher.”
Tiffany Campbell will take over management of the recently refurbished cafeteria.
Phillip Huskey is the new custodian.
Registration
Moran is currently accepting applications for up to 20 transfer students, from pre-K through high school.
The district’s school bus routes will be the same as last year, according to business manager Diedre Cauble, and will include Moran, Cisco, Albany, and Breckenridge.
“The number of transfer students is not set in stone, and we may accept a few more than that, depending upon applications,” said Freeman. “But we try to limit our student numbers to fit our staff size and our facility, so we can teach effectively and keep our class sizes small.”
