Waddell, Scott named MHS royalty
By Sam Waller
Alli Scott was crowned homecoming queen with Tyler Waddell named homecoming king during ceremonies at Moran’s football game against Mullin on Friday, Sept. 16.
Moran cheerleaders held a homecoming dance at Moran Events Center following the game.
Free Lunches
The Moran school board voted at its Monday, Sept. 19 meeting to provide lunch for all MISD students at no cost.
“The board voted unanimously to pay for students who do not get free or reduced lunches so they’ll all have it,” Moran superintendent Dr. John Denson said. “If a student gets reduced lunches, we’ll pay the remainder of that, and if they’re full-price, we’ll pay for those.”
Denson said the move will cost the district about $4,000 for the remainder of the school year.
“That’s if all the students are here every day and eat every day,” he said. “That’s the maximum.”
Moran students are already offered free breakfast before school.
Another addition to the district’s food service has been a salad bar, which Denson said has been well received.
“It’s kind of surprising who’ll choose to have a salad,” he said. “It’s been a nice alternative, and it’s as good as the salad bars at any restaurant I’ve been to.”
Appreciation Dinner
Moran FFA will hold a Community Appreciation Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22 at Moran Event Center.
Moran FFA adviser Minnie Denson said burgers and sides will be served to show appreciation for the community’s support of the FFA program.
