Volunteers needed to help with track meet

Volunteers are still needed to assist with Nancy Smith Elementary School’s annual track meet and field day. Principal John Gallagher said anyone wanting to help can call the NSES office at 325-762-3384.

The track meet and field day will be held Tuesday, May 23.

“Volunteers can reach out to coach Ginger Norton through the elementary office,” Gallagher said. “I know she has high school students lined up, but there will be plenty of jobs.”

Gallagher said the day will operate according to the normal school schedule. At 9:00 a.m., students will be bused from NSES to the high school track. Lunch will be provided at the track with students taken to Webb Park for the rest of the day following the meal.

Gallagher said volunteers are needed to assist with events during the track meet.

“We’ll need people to help run off track events, anything from high jump to long jump to the softball throw,” he said. “Then folks can help out with fun activities in the afternoon.”

Gallagher said parents may pick up their children at the park as long as they check in with a teacher before leaving.
