With the help of a good number of volunteers and generous donors, the Christmas meal needs of 116 Albany and Moran families were met when the Albany Ministerial Alliance distributed its annual Christmas food baskets on Sunday, Dec. 13.

Alliance secretary Tisha Wilkins said this week that the organization had originally planned for only 94 deliveries because that’s how many applications they had been given on the deadline day.

However, another 22 forms were submitted, bringing the total number of individuals served to 297.

“I always say the distribution process can’t get any better,” said Wilkins. “This year, I think we set a record and had everything sent out within 20 minutes.”

She added that enough volunteers were available also to deliver food baskets to Ragan Riley at Resource Care for the Vittles by Vehicle recipients.

Wilkins also said some of the recipients chose to pick up their baskets at First Baptist Church in Moran or at the Feed Store.

“When we wrap up the deliveries, I always think the process can’t get any better, but it always does,” said Wilkins. “Albany is such a neat place and does an amazing job of taking care of its citizens.”
