With just over a week remaining in the filing period for several local May 6 elections, only incumbents have signed up for terms on one of the six boards or councils subject to election, and so far, there are no opposed races.

Board member posts and council positions are subject to election by the public for both Albany and Moran school boards and city councils, along with the Shackelford County Hospital District and the Fort Griffin SUD.

Candidates have until Friday, Feb. 17 to have their names placed on the ballots for any of the local elections.

•All three incumbents on the Albany ISD board have filed for three-year terms, including Robert Montgomery, Ginny Ivy, and recent appointee Bo Brown.

•Albany mayor Susan Mongomery and incumbent city council members Lynsi Musselman and Don Taggart filed last month, with no opposition so far.

•All incumbents for the Moran city council filed Tuesday night, including mayor Tyler George and council members Christal Herrell, Tyler Kiman, and Gene Thompson.

•A couple of incumbent directors on the Shackelford County Hospital District have picked up their filing packets, but had not returned them as of Tuesday afternoon.

•No one had filed for either of the two terms expiring this spring on the Moran ISD board of trustees.

•There are also three three-year terms for the board of the Fort Griffin SUD to be filled in May.
