Albany Methodist Church pastor Tim Trimble will be honored with a reception from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, with a change of location from the Feed Store to the Methodist Church fellowship hall.

Trimble is retiring after more than 16 years in the ministry, the last nine in Albany.

Trimble and his wife, Betty, will be moving to Brownwood to be closer to family.

“The first thing I hope to be able to do is to breathe a little bit and at the same time take care of some relationships,” Trimble said. “Part of that will be helping to take care of my mother and some other family matters. After that, I’ll have no pressure to do anything but listen and see where God takes me and Betty from here.”

Trimble joined the ministry in November 2007 after studying at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology. He served churches at Knox City, Benjamin, and Fort Davis before coming to Albany.

Trimble said the church’s Celebrate Recovery ministry will remain special to him.

“The way the Lord brought that ministry to our church and how that taught us to love people even though they were struggling with addiction was remarkable,” he said. “The only hope there from our standpoint was Jesus, and He had the power to get them there.”

Trimble said developing relationships and trust with recovering addicts was the first step in the process.

“We let them know we loved them and understood what a mess looks like,” he said. “We’ve been in one ourselves and received grace and mercy.”

Before joining the ministry, he spent 20 years as a county agent, working in several Texas counties.

Trimble will preach his final sermon as pastor on Sunday, June 5.
