The Albany Jr./Sr. High Student Council will be out combing the streets seeking donations to the Albany Chest during the annual Trick-or-Treat For Change project on Sunday, Oct. 23.

The council will be divided into five groups and canvass the town dressed in their Halloween best, hoping for donations to assist the Albany Chest in raising their goal of $47,000 this year.

In the past, the council has typically collected about $1,000 through the event, which is all turned over to the Albany Chest.

StuCo sponsor Jenny Scott said that the teams will meet at the high school and then spread out around town starting at 5:30 p.m.

Members will gladly accept spare change, bills, and even checks. However, all checks should be made out directly to the Albany Chest and not to the school.

“The goal again this year is $1,000,” Scott said. “The kids enjoy dressing up while doing something really important for the community.”

The sponsor said that she feels it is important that the group give back to an organization that has affected them so much in the past.

“The Albany Chest allocates funds to every youth organization in town,” she said. “Now the kids have the chance to help raise money that will benefit so many young people in Albany.”
