The First Baptist Church youth program is again planning to conduct a fundraising volleyball tournament after an earlier effort fell through in March.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, June 24 at the Albany High School gym, with an entry deadline of Thursday, June 22. Proceeds will go to help fund attendance at summer camps for FBC youth.

FBC youth minister Eduardo San Lucas said he is looking for volunteers to assist with the event.

“There will be a concession stand, and we will be selling homemade ice cream,” San Lucas said. “We’re also going to need volunteers to help with donations for food for the concession stand.”

Entry fee for the tournament is $20 per player. Teams must have at least six but no more than 10 members. Teams may be co-ed, but it is not a requirement.

The event is open to anyone entering junior high this fall or older. Play will begin at 8:00 a.m. with the tournament employing a double-elimination format.

After a team plays, it is responsible for calling lines in the next match.
