There is still time to purchase raffle tickets for the Albany Study Club’s annual quilt raffle with the drawing to be held Saturday, June 25, and the winner to be announced before the final performance of the Fort Griffin Fandangle.

The quilt raffle is one of two fundraising projects the Study Club has, along with cookbook sales, to fund scholarships.

Raffle tickets may be purchased from any Study Club member or at Study Club’s Quilt Show. Tickets are $5 for one or $20 for five. Tickets will be sold until 7:00 p.m. Saturday.

“We’re going to draw the winner Saturday night before the show,” Study Club member Tammy Glover said. “If the person is present, we’ll give the quilt to them. If not, we’ll mail it.”

The Quilt Show will continue from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Whitney Theatre. The show is free to the public.

Glover said between 60 and 70 quilts were submitted for this year’s show.

“It’s a pretty good show,” she said. “We’ve got big quilts and little quilts, old and new. There’s a variety.”

This year’s hand-pieced raffle quilt was started by a friend of Study Club member Leta Bell. Bell finished the quilt after the friend, who lived in Ruidoso, New Mexico, died before completing it.
