In just one week, ResourceCare will host its second annual Murder Mystery Dinner fundraising event at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 5.

With help from Albany Mainstreet Playhouse’s Traveling Troupe, ResourceCare will perform “Cinco de Mayo Mayhem: Murder at Isadora’s Fiesta” at the Albany Youth Center, which has been transformed into the scene of a typical Mexican celebration.

ResouceCare programs assistant Ragan Riley said all attendees are encouraged to get into the spirit of the evening by wearing fiesta attire.

“The game will be explained to the guests when they arrive,” said Riley. “Everything the audience sees and hears could be a clue to solving the mystery.”

Troupe members performing for the show include Sandy Abel, Lorna Ayers, Jacob Cleveland, Pam Davis, Wade Jones, Ragan Riley, and Shawn Sutton, although there may be a surprise or two.

Tickets for the fundraiser are $60 each and include admission to the event, homemade tamales along with homemade salsa and chips for an appetizer, a taco bar with homemade tortillas, beef and chicken fajitas and taco meat with Spanish rice and beans. Sopapilla cheesecake will be served for dessert.

According to Riley, Isadora is hosting her annual Mexican fiesta in honor of Cinco de Mayo.

“She’s breaking out the chips and salsa, hiring the mariachi band, and prepping the dance floor for fun times with her ‘friends’,” said Riley.

Sadly, Isadora has no idea she has set the stage for a disaster in the making.

“Keep your eyes and ears open, because anything could be a clue to solving this Cinco de Mayo Murder,” Riley encouraged.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to fund ResourceCare’s Vittles by Vehicle program which provides three meals a week to around 40 senior citizens in Albany.

The deadline for purchasing tickets is Tuesday, May 3, and tickets may be purchased by contacting Riley via email at rriley@resourcecare.org or by phone at 214-663-3271, or by calling Mindy Ary at 254-459-8785.
