Deadline for exhibitors from the 2023 Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show to have thank you notes to buyers written and ready to mail is Saturday, April 1.

Show participants must place their finished notes in a stamped, addressed envelope ready for mailing. Notes must be verified by Albany FFA adviser Chris Beard or Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell.

All outstanding balances owed to the Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association, Albany FFA, or Shackelford County 4-H must be paid. Also, any students who fed animals at the FFA barn must clean their pens.

Students owing money to the Albany FFA Livestock Scholarship Fund must have that paid by Wednesday, April 12. Payments may be made by check or cash.

Stock show checks will be distributed Thursday, April 13 at the Chamber of Commerce building.

Scholarship Applications

Applications for the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show and the Monte Lewis Memorial scholarships are also due April 1. High school seniors may pick up application forms from their FFA or 4-H adviser.

Applications must be turned in to Jenny Scott by the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

Stock Show Meeting

The Shackelford Youth and Livestock Association annual meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 11 at the Albany High School Ag Building.

The meeting will include election for two positions on the Association’s board as well as discussion of this year’s show and proposed rule changes.

“We discuss things that may need to be changed,” Association president Bronco Askew said. ‘Then the board will meet and vote on the ideas.”
