Only a handful of slots remained available for the Albany Golf Club’s annual Labor Day tournament as of Monday, and those who still want to enter should call as soon as possible to see if any tee times are still open.

“We only have four afternoon spots left,” club president Randy Walker said Monday afternoon. “All of the morning tee times have been taken, and all of the rental golf carts have been claimed.”

The event is held at the Albany Golf Course.

Registration for the two-person scramble is $80 per person ($160 per team) and includes one mulligan per player for each day of play and a brisket meal on Saturday evening.

Only four of the 1:30 p.m. afternoon tee times on Saturday, Aug. 31 were still available as of press time.

Play in the tourney continues on Sunday, Sept. 1 with teams flighted based on Saturday’s play.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top teams in each flight.

“We will have some extra prizes for things like ‘Closest to the Pin’ on some holes,” said Walker.

For more information about the tournament or to register, contact James Waters at 325-627-3598 or Walker at 325-762-4177.

Weekly golf scrambles are held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons. The entry fee for those events is $10 for club members and $15 for non-members.
