Teams to enter Food Challenge

Four teams from Shackelford County 4-H will participate in the District 7 Food Challenge, scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 25 at San Angelo.

The teams, all composed of junior members, took part in a mock contest last month to prepare for the district competition.

“The kids have been practicing,” Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell said. “I think they’re ready.”

The Food Challenge involves teams of three or four preparing a dish based on a specific ingredient and category. Once a team receives its assignment, it faces a 40-minute time limit to prepare the dish and make a presentation.

Also on next week’s schedule is an outdoor education meeting at 6:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 23 at Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church.

The club will have 32 members exhibiting animals this weekend at the Shackelford County Youth and Livestock Show.
