Teachers still available to ‘adopt’

Local citizens still have time to “adopt” a local teacher from a Christmas tree sponsored by the AJHS Academic Booster Club as the deadline has been extended.

“We still have 17 teachers/staff left on the trees who have requested items, but have not been selected,” said Rise and Shine committee member Heather Brown. “This is a great opportunity to encourage the teachers/staff who love, care for, and educate our students each and every day.”

Members of the AJSH Academic Booster Club formed a “Rise and Shine” committee last year to bless, encourage, and uplift the faculty and staff of the Albany Independent School District.

The group had such a great response last year that they sponsored the second annual teacher/staff Christmas wish list event.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, the method to get wish lists out to the public was revised and the Rise and Shine AISD coordinator created a “SignUpGenius.com” account for the event.

The link with the 17 remaining wish lists has been shared through the various AISD and Academic Booster Club accounts, Brown said.

The link can be found on the AJHS Facebook page, the Rise & Shine Facebook page, the Academic Booster Club page, and on the homepage of the AISD website.

There is a suggested $50 maximum gift limit and all gifts will need to be wrapped and returned to the appropriate campus by tomorrow, Friday, Dec. 18 at 12:00 noon.
