The Moran Independent School District has filled their two vacant staff positions, according to MISD superintendent Danny Freeman.

“They haven’t been by to sign contracts yet, but we have verbal agreements with both of them,” said Freeman.

John Hughes will be the new football coach for Moran.

Hughes graduated from Venus High School and received his BS from Tarle-ton. He has worked at several schools including Milano, Hubbard, Whitney, Joshua, Morgan, Brookesmith, Maud, and High Island. Most recently he coached in Rochelle.

Robert Carl Londerholm Jr. will be the new MISD science teacher.

Londerholm lives in Albany.

Freeman added that one of the main activities being worked on at MISD is changing Moran’s school calendar to become a four day/fifth day optional one by the time the next school year is underway.

“Right now it is still a work in progress, but we will implement it this year,” said the superintendent. “In our agricultural-based small community, it will give some of our kids an extra day to work or do other activities. I know that I’d have liked it when I was in high school.”
