Educators at Albany ISD are being provided snacks, meals, and gifts during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2-6, courtesy of the Albany Parent Teacher Organization, parents of local students, and local businesses.

PTO organizer Malarie Sutton said teachers and staff members are getting something special each day this week, including meals and gifts.

“We are truly blessed to have each and every employee at AISD, and this is something that we can do to tell them thanks,” said Sutton.

The secondary staff was treated to lunch on Wednesday and the elementary campus on Thursday, courtesy of First National Bank.

Educators received complimentary mugs on Monday, and s’mores bars were set up on Tuesday, with a trail mix bar planned on Friday.

The staff members are also being given individual jars of barbecue sauce this week, with the message, “Hope your day is awesome sauce.”

The week also includes drawings for prizes donated by local merchants.

“I’m honored that I’m able to volunteer time, as are many others, to help spread love and appreciation to the best teachers and staff members,” Sutton said. “We are eternally grateful for all of the hard work that is put in each day for both campuses to be successful. Because of our teachers, staff and administrators, we know that our children are learning and growing, and this is our way of thanking them for making a difference in their lives.”
