‘Tasty Bakes’ puts Moran on map
By Lynsi Musselman
Good & Tasty Bakes, a company dedicated to helping people have their sweets and eat them too, is putting Moran on the map.
The endeavor was created by mother and daughter duo Joey Weir of Moran and Lauren Jo Gandillon, formerly of Albany,.
Gandillon said she and her mother wanted to enjoy something sweet while eating clean and healthy.
“These treats are perfect for diabetics or anyone trying to avoid sugar or carbohydrates,” Weir added. “Our products are certified gluten-free, non-GMO, soy-free, and all natural, and never have any added chemicals or preservatives.”
Gandillon explained that her mother has been dedicated to making healthier food options her whole life, especially desserts.
“One day she served me the cheesecake, and I told her we could sell this,” she said. “We hired a consulting firm to help us find a co-manufacturer. They nailed it on the first try, which our consultants said never happens.”
Gandillon commented that the individually hand made and from scratch process is a more expensive way to produce the product, but the quality and appearance is worth the extra cost.
The launch of Good & Tasty Bakes in early June of 2020, with a label that says distributed in Moran, TX on the package, shipped to over 20 states in the first month.
“We have had a great amount of success from online orders from Shackelford County folks,” Gandillon said. “We are happy to have our products at Albany Wellness and Provision too, so our local customers can save by not paying for shipping.”
Currently, the cheesecake flavors are classic, key lime, and chocolate.
The pair will be launching a pumpkin cheesecake in the fall.
