SYATP events set Sept. 26

The 28th annual See You at the Pole is set for Wednesday, Sept. 26, with separate events planned for local elementary and secondary students.

The 2018 theme is “Broken.”

Ephesians 3:14, I fall on my knees before the Father, is the scripture selected for 2018.

See You at the Pole, a student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led event, is a global movement of prayer where students meet at the school flagpole before school to lift up their friends, families, teachers, school, and nation to God.

“See You at the Pole is for everyone, not just one church or kids in a particular youth group,” Feed Store executive director Tisha Wilkins said. “This event is for all kids, including kids who don’t regularly go to church.”

AHS/AJHS Event

The high school and junior high participants will gather at 7:00 a.m in the high school gym foyer for a time of worship, praise, and a student-led prayer on the morning of the nationwide program.

Adults can stand near the young people, but the prayer time is supposed to be completely student led.

Youth ministers will be at the secondary campus to join in the student-led worship, and plan to bring donuts and juice for participants.

Elementary Event

A separate event is being planned for elementary students. Parents and other adults may also participate.

Elementary students from kindergarten age through sixth grade are invited to eat breakfast at the Albany Church of Christ, beginning at 7:00 a.m. After breakfast, they will walk to Nancy Smith Elementary School, chaperoned by a number of adults.

Upon arrival at the school around 7:40 a.m., the children will pray around the NSES flagpole. Students who don’t wish to eat breakfast may join the group at that time.

Moran ISD

Moran students typically gather at the pole around 7:30 a.m. for the annual student time of prayer.

Saw You at the Pole

There will be a follow-up event in Albany this year.

“Saw You at the Pole” will be held next Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at The Feed Store, and is expected to include a speaker, praise worship led by Five2 Offering, and student guests from neighboring towns.

The See You at the Pole movement started in the Fort Worth suburb of Burleson in 1990, with 10 students praying at their school. Now millions of students in at least 20 nations gather on the fourth Wednesday in September to pray at their school flagpole.

SYATP brings students to their school flagpoles to intercede for their leaders, schools, and families, asking God to bring moral and spiritual awakening to their campuses and countries.
