The next round of deadlines for Albany FFA and Shackelford County 4-H members planning to exhibit livestock at winter shows is quickly approaching.

The deadline for swine tag orders is Monday, Nov. 7, followed by the deadline for all uploads for heifers, sheep and goats on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Entry deadline for the county and all major shows is Friday, Nov. 11. All money is due at the time of entry.

Swine validation will take place at 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20.

“I will need all gilt registration paperwork at the time of validation,” Albany FFA adviser Chris Beard said. “All registration paperwork will have to be uploaded.”

Wednesday, Nov. 30, is the deadline for Junior FFA dues.

LDE Events

Albany FFA will compete in the Big Country District FFA Leadership Development Event on Monday, Nov. 14 at Cisco.

The district contest will be followed by the Area 4 LDE contest on Monday, Nov. 21, at Abilene Wylie.

Quality Counts

All FFA and 4-H members need to be working on their Quality Counts programs, Beard said.

“You have to have Quality Counts to enter the major shows,” Beard said.

Students needing assistance with the program can contact Beard, Moran FFA adviser Minnie Denson, or Shackelford County extension agent Kelsey Bell.

Fundraisers

Albany FFA is taking orders for its Christmas food sale.

Deadline for meat, cookie, and fruit orders is Tuesday, Nov. 15. The items will be delivered between Tuesday, Nov. 29 and Tuesday, Dec. 13.

The Christmas order is the FFA chapter’s last sale of the year.

“I just had $10,000 worth of meat sales come in this week,” Beard said.
