Children’s summer programs at First Baptist Church of Albany get into full swing Wednesday, June 7.

Children’s minister Ginger Bumguardner said there are still a few openings for the Summer SONshine program, while the community children’s choir is seeking more participants.

The Summer SONshine program will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Children’s Big Room.

Space is limited by transportation, so prospective participants are encouraged to sign up soon.

“We are just a hair from being full,” Bumguardner said. “I’ve dropped the Kindergarten Kapers and combined it with Summer SONshine.”

The program, for children who have completed kindergarten through sixth grade, will offer Bible study, music, crafts, games, and field trips.

“We’re calling our Bible studies for Summer SONshine ‘Leadership Academy 101: Learning To Lead Like Jesus’,” Bumguardner said.

Cost is $15 per day. Participants are asked to bring a sack lunch and a drink.

For more information, call Bumguardner at 325-660-5420.

The community children’s choir will meet 5:00-6:15 p.m. Wednesdays starting June 7 at the FBC Children’s Big Room.

The choir will present a musical at the end of summer. Parts will be assigned in early June.

“We need lots of kids to come and participate,” Bumguardner said. “The musical we’re doing is called ‘The Agape League.’ It’s about superheroes that take on the fruits of the spirit.”

Preteen Ministry

The Preteen Ministry, which started earlier this month, is for students who have finished sixth grade.

The program will be held 5:30-7:15 p.m. each Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall.
