Students, staff to get Monday off

Albany ISD students and staff get a day off for the first holiday of the 2021-2022 school year on Monday, Sept. 6 in observance of Labor Day.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 7 at the normal time of 7:55 a.m. for Nancy Smith Elementary and 8:00 a.m. at Albany Junior/Senior High School.

Classes started at both campuses on Aug. 18, with the end of the first six-week grading period ending on Friday, Sept. 24.

The next holiday on the calendar for students and staff is Monday, Oct. 11 for Columbus Day, followed by the Thanksgiving holiday that will start with an early release on Tuesday, Nov. 23.

Classes will resume the following Monday, Nov. 29.

Students follow the regular daily release schedule except for holidays and early release days.

Head Start and three-year-old pre-K students are dismissed at 2:30 p.m., followed by the four-year-old Pre-K through grade 2 at 3:00 p.m. The rest of the campus is released at 3:30 p.m.

Secondary students dismiss at 3:35 p.m.

All buses run at the end of the school day starting at 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursday and at 3:00 p.m. on Fridays.

On Fridays, all classes end at 3:00 p.m. except Head Start and three-year-old Pre-K, which dismiss at 2:30 p.m. as usual.
